The Position: Our client is currently recruiting for an experienced Data Architect whose responsibility will be to develop, optimize, and oversee our company's conceptual and logical data systems.

Whether it be ETL, migrations, pipelines or analysis, you will play a key role in designing the data models, strategy and processes to expand and extend the AFSL data foundations


Responsibilities:

* Evaluate the current state of the company's databases and other data systems and identify new solutions to increase efficiency and performance
* Develop database design and architecture documentation for the management and executive teams
* Research new technologies, data modelling methods and information management systems to determine which ones should be incorporated into company data architectures
* Work with cross-functional teams to build new data platforms, pipelines and support their data needs
* Expand and deliver a BigData roadmap
* Provide insight and improvement around data governance, resilience, and recovery

Skills & Qualifications:

* 3+ years of relevant data architecture experience
* Proficiency working with and designing relational and non-relational data models
* Knowledge of security best practice within AWS
* Architectural experience with an AWS production environment working with data warehousing managed services
* Ability to analyse data flows and provide insight around transformations, data quality and integrity
* Experience with Agile, scrum & cross-functional teams



Preferred but not essential:

Your job will include:

* As a Data Architect you master the big data world and help our customers to make their own data fit for business or operational purpose -- whether in the Cloud or in their own data center.

* You are experienced with batch or streaming architecture
* You have deep practical knowledge of handling varied types of data (text, tabular, graph, time-series, geospatial, image, etc.).
* In addition to your programming skills in Python, Java and SQL you have hands-on experience with databases (relational/NoSQL), containerisation, and Cloud environments such as AWS or GCP.
* You are experienced with business intelligence, data analytics and data visualisation frameworks.

I am currently working on a brand new fully remote DevOps Engineer position paying up to £70k.

Tasks:

* Building out infrastructure as code using terraform
* Performing internal audits of our infrastructure, from security, cost, performance, and reliability perspectives
* Performing analysis and running data-driven experiments on our databases in order to improve reliability and performance, and to reduce cost
* Using tools to continue improve our ability to detect and respond to incidents
