    Job Title: Director of SRE

    Company: Confidential

    Location: Remote (preferably CO/OR), with the ability to travel to the office one week every month (Portland Area or Colorado)

    Salary: Open, plus 15% performance bonus, plus equity as a bonus (equity will not be a part of the original offer- equity is a bonus on an annual basis)

    Role Overview/ Notes:

    The client is seeking a Director of SRE to lead a team of 4 SREs based in West minister, CO, and be responsible for affecting the global SRE practice of the company by interacting with the client in Europe, Asia, and other regions. The Director of SRE will report to XXXX, who sits in Portland, and be the first manager in this new role.

    The ideal candidate will be diplomatic with stakeholders, competent, possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be analytical, and have strong critical thinking abilities. Culture fit is a critical requirement for the position, and the candidate must be a perfect fit for the team.

    The Director of SRE will have eight years of overall IT experience with any background and have an understanding of DevOps. The candidate must be comfortable with being hands-on for 10-15% of the time and hands-off for the rest of the time. They will have a high-level role, and while they need to have technical knowledge, the emphasis is more on process than hands-on day-to-day activities. Any future hires will report to this person.

    Tech Needed:

    The ideal candidate should have experience working with a mix of AWS/Azure, monitoring or logging tools like new relic, sumologic, or datadog, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation. While servers don't matter, they must have held a leadership role in the past three years.

    Interview Process:

    The interview process for the Director of SRE role at XXXXX will involve three stages. The first stage will be a 30-minute interview with XXXX, the hiring manager. The second stage will involve a one-hour panel with direct reports, and the final stage will involve a two-hour panel with peers, potentially including the Director of DevOps, Director of R&D, and other senior executives.
