Job description

2021 looks to be another big year for DevOps. By 2023, experts expect the DevOps market to triple in size compared to 2018. This brings a lot of positives: Cutting edge technology, New certifications and Variety. However how many opportunities can offer all 3? This role working with an award winning digital consultancy can.

My client is a specialised consultancy focused on cloud, data and digital transformations. The roles are part of an ongoing recruitment drive with a focus on building a strong DevOps team. You will be tasked with working with various members of the business to deliver digital solutions on an enterprise level. In terms of clients, you will work closely with public sector, finance and energy & gas.

Cutting Edge Technology:

My client prides themselves on being able to use cutting edge technology to deliver ground breaking solutions. To do so they look to use the right tool for the job, this could be working with hybrid cloud platforms in AWS and Azure whilst using Kubernetes and Terraform.

Variety:

No one wants to be stuck on the same support work for months on end. That's why as a consultant, no two days will be the same. However there are a few responsibilities that will remain consistent. Working on: CI/CD pipelines, Cloud Architecture, Containerisation & Orchestration, Automation and Configuration Management.

Certifications:

My client dedicates one day per week for technical research and upskilling. Certifications include AWS/Azure/GCP and training in the latest frameworks or languages.

But enough about the company and the role. This, like any good advert, should be about you and what you need to bring to the table in order to progress this application. Therefore if you have experience in the following tools and skills, reach out:

* Cloud - AWS or Azure or GCP
* Containerisation - Docker, Docker Swarm, Kubernetes
* Configuration Management Tools - Puppet, Chef, Ansible
* IAC - Terraform, CloudFormation
* Agile - Experience with Scrum or Kanban
* Linux

In return, you will benefit from a highly networked and very flat structured organisation. This means that people with an Entrepreneurial self-managed approach can really contribute to the strategic direction of the practice and be heard. In terms of package, my client can offer a competitive salary (between £65,000 - £95,000) alongside a non-contributory pension (6%), private health care and remote work.

If you are a interested in applying, then please feel free to contact me at with any of the below. Even if you fancy a chat for insights into the market, do get in touch.

Job description

Senior DevOps Engineer | Remote / North East | UK | £50,000 - £80,000

I am exclusively engaged with an award-winning IT Management Consultancy who are looking to beef up their team by recruiting DevOps Engineers, ideally with a background working with one of the major Public Cloud providers (Google, Amazon, Microsoft).

Role Overview

Your role will play a huge part in that specialism, acting in a technical (hands on) capacity, working closely with both internal and external stakeholders to help create and deliver the best solution to meet the customer's needs. You will be empowered and encouraged to work in an innovative manner, bringing your own ideas to the table and putting your own spin on things. Moreover, you will be given a chance to spend x1 day per week doing your own personal/research projects to ensure you always remain fully up to date from a technology standpoint.

Travel & Working Patterns

Your role will be 100% and home-based (genuinely... not just during COVID!), with client-site travel expected a couple of days' per month once COVID is in the rearview mirror. Their clients are located in the North East, North West, Midlands and Yorkshire and you will have any travel expensed covered by the organisation.

Role Requirements

In terms of their expectations from you, rather than copying and pasting the JD, I have decided to pick out the key requirements below:

* Cloud Skills - You must have proven commercial experience working with either Google Cloud (GCP), Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services (AWS).
* DevOps Tech - 'DevOps' covers a broad range but if you have skills in the following then you're somebody I would like to speak with - Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform, Linux, Windows, Chef etc.
* Stakeholder Management - Proven experience working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, with prior consulting experience a bonus.
* Delivery - Knowledge of Agile/Waterfall delivery methods.

Benefits

In return, you will benefit from a competitive base salary (£50,000 - £80,000), alongside annual bonuses (10-15%), pension contributions (9%), private healthcare and fully expensed Cloud certifications. You will also benefit from a generous annual tech/kit budget.
