DevOps Engineer - AWS - Remote Working - Outside IR35



The engineer will be part of a seven-person engineering team that will work in a lively setting to deliver Foundation services for the 'data mesh' architecture in increments.

* Remote working, any travel could be fully expensed
* Data transformation programme for a large government department



The engineer will be in charge of:

* Delivering functioning code in accordance with the sprint schedule
* Providing a clear and accurate status on daily stand-ups
* Adhering to quality protocols
* Documenting technical implementation details



Deliverables:

* Providing specialised foundation services
* Creating pipelines for development
* Central secret management
* Data mesh is the latest paradigm for structuring large data infrastructure
* Currently focusing on common services such as access management (IAM), Logging (elastic search), monitoring (Prometheus), Secrets management (HashiCorp Vault)



Mandatory Requirements:

* 5+ years' experience of Software development and DevOps experience on AWS. A Degree in Computer Science (or equivalent). Ideally has a background in software development or Management Information Systems background (e.g SQL).
* AWS DevOps (certifications relating to this would be great)
* Experience in HashiCorp Vault, Prometheus
* Experience in Terraform, Gitlab CI/CD pipelines set-up and using AWS products and services
* Experience with AWS security, monitoring, alerting
* AWS experience designing data solutions utilising various services and numerous accounts is a plus.
* Excellent communicator who works well in a team

Harnessing your experience of DevOps, CI/CD pipelining and Infrastructure as Code (IaC), you'll take on a leading frontline role. This will entail, building and automating highly scalable systems with the most up-to-date technologies to deliver real change. Take end-to-end ownership for developing and implementing solutions.



Key responsibilities:



* Implementing CI/CD principles & implement best practices for platform build automation.
* Configuring and using DevSecOps tooling i.e. source code repositories (GIT) Artifactory, Selenium, Fortify, Snyk, SonarQube and ELK stack as part of CI/CD pipeline
* Experience in developing automated software delivery workflows with Jenkins, integration with ServiceNow, Terraform and Ansible Tower
* Good knowledge in infrastructure and components like Active Directory, DHCP, SSL certificates
* Hands on experience in implementing DevOps solutions, implementation & automation of Application Life Cycle Management.
* Experience in new ways of working , Agile way of development, using the Scrum framework

Role

You will use your development skills to automate the build of infrastructure resources within AWS, along with the packaging of services into AMIs, Docker containers or Serverless deployments.



Must Haves:



* Hands on experience of working with key AWS services and experience building AWS resources using infrastructure as code using Terraform (or CloudFormation) and Packer.

* A deep understanding and experience of building, testing, packaging, releasing, and deploying code and services within a team-based environment.

* Linux system administration.

They are currently building a vertically integrated staking-validator-exchange solution for Proof of Stake blockchains. Responsibilities

* Lead the building of a scalable and secure infrastructure in this fast-moving space
* Design the platforms that will enable a continuous delivery environment. This includes automating testing, continuous integration pipelines, and provisioning of environments
* Run our production environments against critical SLAs (speed, uptime, stability).
* Build solutions for monitoring and collecting metrics to improve functional areas.
* Lead aspects of security design for our environments both from a production and an internal access aspect.
* Create an auto-scaling infrastructure in both cloud and hosted environments finding the right balance between cost, security and scalability
* Work with the engineering team to create connectors to new DeFi protocols/blockchains and to build new smart contracts
* Set up and maintain node infrastructure Requirements
