Senior AWS DevOps Engineer | Fully Remote | 6-12 months | Outside IR35 |

Jefferson Frank are supporting a consultancy in pursuit of a Senior DevOps Engineer to support on a project for a client in the aviation space. This is a long term contract and the candidate can be based anywhere in the U.K.

Required skills:

* Experience leading DevOps/SRE team
* Experience in AWS and cloud technologies
* Experience applying software dev practices to infrastructure deployment
* Experience helping development teams build and deploy microservices based applications in AWS
* Experience migrating from hosted traditional stack to a cloud-based stack.
* Experience developing docker solutions in AWS: EKS, ECS
* Exposure to Packer, Terraform, Ansible,
* Experience with native AWS services like WAF, API GW, Lambda
* Experience with monitoring tools like Datadog
* Experience with Continuous Integration & Continuous Deployment tools and processes
* Experience with distributed computing, cloud security, IaaS & PaaS architectures, DevOps, SRE and networking concepts
* Knowledge of J2EE, and cloud technologies development languages and tools, to continue with development
* Understanding of Identity and Access Management, user and system authentication methods and certificates, tokens and certificate management
* Strong background in Linux/Unix Systems
* Experience working in Agile / Scrum teams
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Essential Criteria

Cloud DevOps Engineer | Leatherhead | SC Cleared | Inside IR35 | 3 Months + Extension

Security Clearance: Must be UK national - Security Cleared (SC).

Responsibilities and Challenges:
* Optimising and secure existing development processes and CI/CD pipelines
* Maintaining and optimising the development environment to ensure maximum developer productivity
* Build and improve cloud native deployment pipelines
* Designing and implementing a backup and recovery solution for DevOps tooling
* Introduce SRE capabilities into the team and project improving our deployment and application maintenance process.

Mandatory Requirements:
* Ability to work directly with our clients and delivery teams to develop high quality technical solutions and designs for multi/hybrid cloud platforms with an emphasis on modern serverless architecture (FaaS).
* Demonstrate hands on system engineering experience on cloud platforms, ideally using AWS or GCP.
* Experience (and preference) of using IaaC to deploy cloud resources (Terraform/CloudFormation)
* Comprehensive understanding and experience of implementing CI/CD pipelines using contemporary tooling for version control, automation and configuration management.
* Experience of designing and developing using Java with code written to a common standard including well-documented code and design documents.
* Experience of using Linux as a deployment platform and day-to-day development environment - e.g. has experience of package management, networking configuration etc.
* Able to write, review and assure technical documentation such as HLDs, LLDs, user guides, release notes etc.
* Experience of microservices and containerisation technologies such as Kubernetes, OpenShift and Docker.
Desirable
* Application Monitoring experience: AppDynamics, Dynatrace etc
* SSH Cryptography and TLS

Jefferson Frank are proud to be continuously supporting a specialist data engineering, digital and cloud consultancy, who focus on supporting their clients in successfully delivering on their digital transformation programmes. We are in pursuit of an SC Cleared DevOps Engineer to work on a long-term project for a government client.

The Role:
In this role, you will be working predominantly in a Linux based environment, collaborating with our team to review specifications and then use these agreed specifications to create infrastructure or scripts on AWS using the right standards and tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
You will architect, implement and manage continuous delivery pipelines on AWS to ensure the team can deliver code frequently whilst maintaining quality.

Key Responsibilities:
* Engaging in and improve the whole lifecycle of services, from inception and design, through deployment, operation, and refinement utilising platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes

* Implementing systems that are highly available, scalable, and self-healing on the AWS platform.

* Supporting development teams with build & deployment best practices e.g. branching strategy, testing methodology, CI/CD and pipelines.

* Designing, managing and maintaining tools to automate operational processes.

* Implementing and automating security controls, governance processes, and compliance validation.

* Defining and deploying monitoring, metrics, and logging systems on AWS using AWS native services and/or the ELK stack.

* Supporting the automation of test cases and embedding these within delivery pipelines to ensure code remains robust.

Requirements:
* Proven experience of working on relevant system administration and/or DevOps projects
* Hands-on experience with AWS services including VPCs, ELBs, Route 53, RDS, Cloudwatch, IAM, EC2, Lambda, etc.
* Experience of working with the command line in Linux, creating Bash scripts
* Experienced with configuration and management of version control software
* Experienced of amending and writing Infrastructure as code templates, using Terraform or CloudFormation
* Experience with containerisation and orchestration, using tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
* Solid Linux and/or Windows system administration experience
* Networking experience, CIDR, TCP/UDP, IP, tcpdump
* Software engineering skills (such as Git, Bash, Python, Go, Java, Ruby)
* Experience of working within large, complex and geographically dispersed programmes.
* Working within an agile context with the use of CI (continuous improvement)
