    SC Cleared DevOps Engineer | 12 months | Remote | INSIDE IR35

    Jefferson Frank are proud to be continuously supporting a specialist data engineering, digital and cloud consultancy, who focus on supporting their clients in successfully delivering on their digital transformation programmes. We are in pursuit of an SC Cleared DevOps Engineer to work on a long term project for a government client.


    The Role:

    Working with high-profile clients, you'll be working collaboratively with them, analysing their existing processes, identifying, and implementing opportunities to optimise these processes. You'll be developing solutions to iteratively improve existing capabilities or creating entirely new capabilities.

    In this role, you will be working predominantly in a Linux based environment, collaborating with our team to review specifications and then use these agreed specifications to create infrastructure or scripts on AWS using the right standards and tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.

    You will architect, implement and manage continuous delivery pipelines on AWS to ensure the team can deliver code frequently whilst maintaining quality.

    Key Responsibilities:

    * Engaging in and improve the whole lifecycle of services, from inception and design, through deployment, operation, and refinement utilising platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes

    * Implementing systems that are highly available, scalable, and self-healing on the AWS platform.

    * Supporting development teams with build & deployment best practices e.g. branching strategy, testing methodology, CI/CD and pipelines.

    * Designing, managing and maintaining tools to automate operational processes.

    * Implementing and automating security controls, governance processes, and compliance validation.

    * Defining and deploying monitoring, metrics, and logging systems on AWS using AWS native services and/or the ELK stack.

    * Supporting the automation of test cases and embedding these within delivery pipelines to ensure code remains robust.


    * Proven experience of working on relevant system administration and/or DevOps projects
    * Hands-on experience with AWS services including VPCs, ELBs, Route 53, RDS, Cloudwatch, IAM, EC2, Lambda, etc.
    * Experience of working with the command line in Linux, creating Bash scripts
    * Experienced with configuration and management of version control software
    * Experienced of amending and writing Infrastructure as code templates, using Terraform or CloudFormation
    * Experience with containerisation and orchestration, using tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
    * Excellent ability to debug and optimise code and automate routine tasks
    * Solid Linux and/or Windows system administration experience
    * Networking experience, CIDR, TCP/UDP, IP, tcpdump
    * Software engineering skills (such as Git, Bash, Python, Go, Java, Ruby)
    * Experience with the ELK stack, capable of configuring a greenfield implementation for clients.
    * Experience of working within large, complex and geographically dispersed programmes.
    * Working within an agile context with the use of CI (continuous improvement)
    * Articulate a logical design, and understand how this translates to physical infrastructure
    * Experience with defining and working with the constraint of NFRs such as cost, scalability, availability
    * Must have skills will determine how well they will be able to integrate into our way of working and the principals we use when making strategic and long-term decisions

    Jefferson Frank are working with a leading technology company who are seeking to on board an experienced Senior Application Architect. This is an industry leading programme of work that is in it's infancy and will be long term.

    We are looking for an experienced strategic resource that will be leading off and on shore small teams and therefore must be a very strong communicator.

    The focus for this role is applications, leading a wider team offshore, of which they have circa 20 applications they are working on at present. Need to make sure the team are using AWS Best practices and making it awesome!

    This role is paying between £700 - £800 a/day depending on experience, 12 months, prompt start.

    Must have:

    * Delivery experience of large and complex migration programs
    * AWS Migration experience
    * AWS services experience - Ideally AWS Lambda
    * Some OpenShift experience and knowledge
    * Ability to reverse engineer architecture and design from code
    * Some experience with Python, PostGres, PHP (to reverse engineer)
    * Good client comms / relationship skills
    * Ability to work in onshore-offshore teams
    * Quickly learn new tech to take logical architectural decisions
    * Own issues and resolve them by communicating and negotiating with multiple client teams

    Key Responsibilities:

    * Develop high-quality security conscious code.
    * Participate in an agile development process and collaborate closely with the development manager and the rest of the development team.
    * Write tests to ensure that the software being delivered is error-free.
    * Review pull requests on GitHub
    * Manage your own time and schedules to make sure deadlines are set correctly.


    * Expertise in front-end technologies (HTML5, JavaScript, CSS, NextJS, React).
    * State management tools in React and appropriate use cases, Redux vs Context vs Prop drilling.
    * API Development
    * Knowledge of back-end technologies (Node).
    * Excellent knowledge of MVC best practices and structuring.
    * Excellent project management skills.
    * Test Driven Development (TDD/BDD)
    * A strong understanding of interface and user experience development, and best practices for web and mobile.
    * Great team player who can work well with both product, design and key stakeholders.
    * Implement the 4 S's (Security, Stability, Scalability and Speed to Market)
    * Knowledge of typescript
    * Experience with GIT & version control
    * Experience using GraphQL, with complex mutations and queries
