The ideal candidate is one that is keen to throw themselves in the deep end, and gain exposure to new and upcoming technologies. Training opportunities are provided, along with paid for certifications in a variety of domains.

I am working with a global digital solutions medical supplier which has 20 European offices and had a 28 billion euros turnover last year also working with 450 branded pharmacies!

The Platform Engineers role is to provide automation, tooling and cloud infrastructure capabilities for digital delivery teams. This is a hands-on role, that will carry out a wide range of activities, from actively building and maintaining platform infrastructure, developing our technical standards and ways of working, through to coaching other engineers and engaging with non-technical people at all levels of seniority. The role will operate in a Dev Ops environment which will also provide support for the relevant applications and platforms as required.

Role & Responsibilities

* Build, maintain & support infrastructure for high-volume, high performance, high-availability applications and platforms.
* Development and implementation of technical standards and ways of working. Ensuring that technical standards are being followed by colleagues and third-party suppliers.
* Effective delivery of projects and activities. Escalation and management of delivery challenges.
* Provide architectural guidance, direction and consultation. Lead on technology design decisions.
* Drive continuous improvement in the performance and resilience of our live services.
* Understand and manage cost drivers, especially for cloud platforms and tooling.
* Create and maintain solution/technical design documentation.
* Support technology innovation.
* Motivated to continuously improve and achieve excellence.

Skills & Qualifications

* Demonstrable working experience developing and maintaining cloud based infrastructure for high-volume, high-performance, high-availability distributed systems. The client's Supplies will be recognised as a provider of top class business relevant solutions to the UK healthcare industry, operating with honesty and integrity to show leadership in partnership
* Demonstrably experienced and capable 'Infrastructure as Code' practitioner. Considerable working experience with Continuous Configuration Automation tooling.
* Demonstrably experienced and capable Continuous Delivery practitioner. Considerable working experience with CI/CD tooling and practices.
* Considerable working experience with cloud infrastructure security best practices and the application of them.
* Experienced maintaining, implementing and supporting monitoring and alerting.





Essential

* A breadth of knowledge and experience building, managing and supporting infrastructure on AWS.
* Strong skills & experience with Unix/Linux environments.
* Experienced with scripting languages/tools such as Bash, Ruby, Python.
* Continuous Configuration Automation tooling such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Terraform.
* CI/CD tooling such as Jenkins, TeamCity.

Desirable

* Containerisation and tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.

Qualifications

* Degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent experience.
* AWS certification is a plus.

We are currently seeking a top performing Senior Cloud Engineer to join our FinOps Team and will be passionate about helping to architect, engineer, lead, and mentor squads of engineers for an extraordinary cost reporting dashboard used Globally across multiple companies.



You'll get the opportunity to work across multiple CSPs and cloud environments to help us deliver solutions that help us provide clarity, insight, and management of our cloud estate.



As the team is expanding quite rapidly, there is a strong need for someone with a good amount of cloud and devops experience to help provide guidance and support, instilling good engineering practices and design principals, to other team members.

What you'll do:

* Contribute code to continue improving our cost and configuration reporting capability across our cloud environments (both public and private), drive towards automation of everything.
* You will help enable innovation through continuous integration and continuous deployment across technology stacks and demonstrate standard methodologies around advanced cloud solutions
* Work closely with the Platform DevOps teams to design and engineer innovative cloud platform solutions.
* Work closely with key stakeholders and other business units to manage expectations, assess work, understand key requirements, and how to progress work towards successful delivery
* Work closely with more junior engineers to ensure they understand business and technical requirements and can deliver effectively
* Provide product level oversight of solutions within the Cloud Finops team to ensure products can be engineered in a mature and pragmatic way aligned with other areas of the team.



What you'll bring:

* Experience as a "hands on" AWS, GCP, or Azure DevOps engineer in an enterprise environment and experienced with container technologies; Docker, Kubernetes or similar, good understanding of Linux and Java based OS and application stacks
* Validated knowledge of AWS, GCP, and Azure cloud platforms and tools
* Experience with multi org architectures and governance at scale (AWS Organizations/GCP Org)
* Experience with developing high and low level designs for serverless cloud architecture with strong documentation skills
* Has experience in delivering, designing, or refactoring cloud native solutions beyond IaaS.
* Experience with Cloud Services and their cost models
* Experience with software development and object orientated programming model with proficiency in at least one programming language, ideally Python.
* Experience in event driven architectures
* Experience with software testing and at least one testing methodology.
* Experience with scalable web application architecture and engineering concepts such as microservices, REST, and APIs
* Experience with testing code and writing tests
* Experience with Infrastructure as code, ideally Terraform
* Experience with automating tasks with CICD tooling such as Concourse
* Experience in source and version control methodologies and technologies, ideally Git.
* Good knowledge of repository management, managing CI triggers, managing git history
* Solid grasp of Agile and DevOps principles
* Experience in breaking down tasks, refinement, story pointing, and managing workloads between team members
