Jefferson Frank have partnered with a reputable energy group to find them a Data Platform Manager with responsibility for their AWS based data platform supporting all data and ML activity within the business.

In this role you will:

* Provide senior technical knowledge contributing to performance, operation and commercial awareness of the platform across relevant stakeholders
* Managing teams supporting the platform across data engineering, data science and BI
* Running the platform, scalability, automation and cost efficient AI driven applications
* Leading a technical team (4)

You will have experience with:

* Excellent technical understanding of modern data environments (e.g Cloud and Infrastructure)

We're a leading AWS consultancy firm, providing expert cloud solutions and support to organizations of all sizes who have been recognised as Well Architected partner of the year and Rising Star partner of the year by AWS in recent years, highlighting our proven capability to deliver results for our customers.

In 2023, we announced a Strategic Collaboration Agreement with AWS which enables the company to further invest in solutions and growth to support their Go To Market (GTM) activities. A crucial part of this is our FinOps offering, and the company are looking to expand their offerings with the hire of a FinOps lead to spearhead the growth of the department.

Our current CostOps service has circa. 250+ clients and is an important source of revenue which we recognize needs to evolve with tangible deliverables and clear messaging. As AWS services and the market evolve, we need this role to constantly be analysing and developing our offering to provide a high-level customer experience and maximise the potential profitability. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in AWS Cost optimisation, will be comfortable delivering the current service by being hands on but with an innate ability to lead and develop a team.

Key Responsibilities

* Full responsibility for out FinOps offering including team and customer management
* Drive optimisation with customers through discovery and sharing of cost-saving opportunities
* Support customers in understanding their AWS Spend with awareness and understanding of their Business Roadmap and Budget

* Monitor AWS Spend at the customer account level to detect, investigate, and escalate anomalies and unplanned spikes.
* Develop and maintain customer reports that provide detailed AWS spend and provide proactive recommendations for cost savings with associated risk profile
* Monitor the market and bring applicable latest tools and technologies, driving adoption internally and externally
* Creating and executing a GTM plan and offering
* Participate in regular customer reviews providing presentations and associated commentary of AWS Spend/Cost Saving.
* Demonstration and evangelizing of the FinOps offering and toolset to prospective clients.
* Develop and maintain appropriate relationships within AWS as an ambassador.

What you'll bring;

* Knowledge of AWS Cloud Cost Products and features (RI, Saving plan, spot, CloudHealth, Cost Explorer etc.)
* Ability to engage and interact with all levels of technical personnel
* Ability to engage and interact with all levels of Client personnel

What you are accountable for :

* Best Practices/Operations :

o Establish appropriate guardrails for the cloud operations and deployment teams and promote process designs and best practices that keep teams within those guardrails;
o Financial monitoring of all cloud services, continuous cost saving analysis, and reporting services
o Support the design, implementation, and maintenance of Cloud DevOps services and processes, working with key stakeholders within R&D and Professional Services to increasingly enhance service delivery automation capabilities;
o Liaise and collaborate with Architecture and other key stakeholders within the Office of the CTO (OCTO) to ensure alignment to our long-term vision and strategy;
o Business Continuity Planning (BCP) - cloud infrastructure, applications, and disaster recovery fire-drills;
o Lead cloud Product Security Incident Response (PSIRT), incident resolution, change management, and problem management

* Leadership :

o Drive technical projects and provide leadership in an innovative and fast-paced environment;
o Prepare and deliver product messaging that highlights our Cloud Platform value proposition;
o Leverage insights gained from customers to align and influence roadmaps and product development plans to enhance our Cloud offerings;
o Be an engaged manager who understands what individuals are working on, who maintains credibility with engineers, and participates in technical discussions;

* Background :

o Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, similar degree / field or equivalent practical experience;
o 5+ years of experience in an engineering leadership role with a focus on cloud technology, distributed systems, infrastructure, and applications at large scale and under high load;
o Must have experience in numerous key AWS technologies: Control Tower, OpenSearch, EKS, EC2, Route53, Workspaces, AppStream, Kinesis, CloudWatch, etc.
o Industry cloud related certifications, such as AWS Certified Security, Solutions Architect, or Certified SysOps Administrator, etc.
o Strong knowledge of core banking systems. Experience in Open Banking (FAPI, FDX, PSD2, etc.) are an asset.
o Industry security related certifications, such as CISSP, CIPP, CIPT or CISM, are an asset
