    This client is a bank-owned consortium distributing data from 31 banks to 80+ buy side clients managing $55 trillion in total assets.     You will be focused on building our data pipelines and architecture within AWS to support our growing data franchise. You will work closely with the Product Team, Sales, Management and most importantly our clients and dealers in delivering a stable and efficient data platform and will report directly to the head of data products.

    Primary accountabilities: AWS and data pipeline expert

    * Hands-on data engineering: cleaning and organising data in Python, S3, redshift, etc.
    * AWS solution guru: experience with a wide array of AWS tools, in order to be able to recommend the right tool for the job
    * Partnership with product management, sales and support to establish requirements and produce cost effective, scalable architectures to meet business requirements



    Other Responsibilities:

    * Partner with the Technology organization to develop and enhance the platform
    * Collaborate with development, QA, Application support and Infrastructure managers to improve the operational efficiency of the organization.
    * Self-motivating and always looking to improve quality
    * Keep abreast of industry trends and ensure that they have the right technology to be market leading



    Required Qualifications:

    * AWS or Azure Certified Solutions Architect: 4 years' experience, specifically Redshift, Lambda, Cloud formation
    * Experience with Kafka or other comparable streaming platform
    * Experience with Spark, Hadoop, or other big data/distributed computing paradigm
    * 3+ years' experience writing production-quality code in Python in a similar role in financial services
    * Formal requirements analysis and architecture modelling methodologies and tools
    * Design and architecture of systems and software components
    * Agile development methodologies and DevOps, CI/CD pipeline and associated tooling, Jira



    Other Requirements

    * Great communicator- comfortable with loose requirements working in a small team
    * Ability to establish rapport and work collaboratively: a solid team player
    * Ability to work independently on projects.



    Location

    * They operate a flexible working policy, typically 2-3 days per week in the London, Cannon Street office.

    Responsibilities and Challenges:
    * Optimising and secure existing development processes and CI/CD pipelines
    * Maintaining and optimising the development environment to ensure maximum developer productivity
    * Build and improve cloud native deployment pipelines
    * Designing and implementing a backup and recovery solution for DevOps tooling
    * Introduce SRE capabilities into the team and project improving our deployment and application maintenance process.

    Mandatory Requirements:
    * Ability to work directly with our clients and delivery teams to develop high quality technical solutions and designs for multi/hybrid cloud platforms with an emphasis on modern serverless architecture (FaaS).
    * Demonstrate hands on system engineering experience on cloud platforms, ideally using AWS or GCP.
    * Experience (and preference) of using IaaC to deploy cloud resources (Terraform/CloudFormation)
    * Comprehensive understanding and experience of implementing CI/CD pipelines using contemporary tooling for version control, automation and configuration management.
    * Experience of designing and developing using Java with code written to a common standard including well-documented code and design documents.
    * Experience of using Linux as a deployment platform and day-to-day development environment - e.g. has experience of package management, networking configuration etc.
    * Able to write, review and assure technical documentation such as HLDs, LLDs, user guides, release notes etc.
    * Experience of microservices and containerisation technologies such as Kubernetes, OpenShift and Docker.
    Desirable
    * Application Monitoring experience: AppDynamics, Dynatrace etc
    * SSH Cryptography and TLS

    The role sits in the newly created Data Science & Tools team within this department, reporting to Head of Data Science & Tools.     RESPONSIBILITIES

    * Ownership of the data engineering projects and solutions delivered by the Data Science and Tools team
    * Line management of Data Engineers (2-3 including contractors)
    * Champion data and software engineering best practices and helping and mentoring the team to implement and uphold those practices
    * Solutionising client deliverables
    * Define and maintain DataOps and governance policies, processes, and standards, including automation of tasks
    * Hands-on involvement in data integrations, warehousing, and related engineering tasks
    * Oversee the deliveries across multiple clients and assuring that the solutions meet the highest quality achievable within the project constraints
    * Research and Development on the possible technologies and help the team and clients adopt those where appropriate
    * Highlight risks and produce effective mitigation plans to address them
    * Be a key owner of the Cloud GCP infrastructure making sure that appropriate governance practices are followed, whilst helping the company with cloud adoption

    PERSON SPECIFICATION

    Essential:

    * Excellent Python and SQL and database design skills
    * Proficient with cloud-based modern data warehousing technologies
    * Fluent with GCP and related technologies, especially BigQuery
    * Strong understanding of the best practices, the trends in data and software engineering
    * Hands-on experience with setting up and maintaining production data pipelines using serverless technologies and/or Airflow
    * Strong dbt/Dataform or similar SQL development frameworks
    * Strong understanding and appreciation of unit testing, producing clean/maintainable code
    * An ability to communicate clearly and effectively on technical topics with varied types of technical and non-technical stakeholders
    * Productionising software applications, experience with Docker
    * Experience working with software engineers, agile development, and software development lifecycles
    * Infrastructure automation, preferably with Terraform
    * Experience setting up CI/CD pipelines



    Highly Desirable:

    * Prior experience with Martech technologies and solutions



    Desirable:

    * Experience with data science for statistical / machine learning models
    * Experience productionising ML pipelines (MLOps)
    * Experience with data visualisation platforms such as Looker Studio (formerly Google Data Studio)
