    Server Lead Programmer - UK wide

    Salary up to £70k DOE

    1 day per month in London office

    An independent games studio, who are the makers of an award-winning open world game and also operate a community led developer network, are expanding further after heavy investment!

    What You'll be doing

    You'll join their highly talented code team and will be responsible for developing and enhancing online-backend systems for games.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    * Developing reliable and high performance online services for our games
    * Making key decisions on server side architecture
    * Building and managing a small server side team of programmers
    * Planning and organising tasks, to deliver features to a schedule
    * Providing advice to the rest of the team on server side issues
    * Working with the other Leads to coordinate tasks and technical implementation, based on the current roadmap. This will include working with other disciplines such as Design and QA
    * As a senior team member you'll help mentor junior team members and plan their skills development
    * Creating and maintaining technical documentation as required

    Required Experience and Skills

    * Professional Game Programming Experience (at least 3 years) including 1 or more shipped games
    * Proven ability to organise and coordinate a small team of programmers
    * Working knowledge of C++, NodeJS, SQL/NoSQL, Docker and orchestration software such as Marathon or Kubenetes
    * Experience with designing around databases, replication, reliable/unreliable protocols, security, high throughput requirements and stateless vs stateful server design
    * Knowledge of the client-server model, Game API design, load balancing, analytics and 3rd party integrations
    * Conceptual grasp of user generated content, persistent environments, large simulated worlds

    SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR (Security)

    Jefferson Frank are currently on the lookout for a security- aware SysAdmin for a leading name in the internet space. This is an inside IR35 contract, 3 months initially with scope for extension moving forward.

    Responsibilities

    * Ensure the operational and production environment is secure.
    * Design and build security improvements t existing infrastructure estate including RHEL6/7/8 servers, VMware virtualised environments, 3par storage, f5 load balancers and HPE compute clusters.
    * Participate within routine patching and own the rollout of security patches to mitigate vulnerabilities.
    * Proactively manage security backlog.
    * Identify and design security requirements across new systems.
    * Develop technical solutions and integrate new security tools that will mitigate against vulnerabilities.
    * Patch and upgrade key systems across our operating systems, storage, compute and the rest of our core infrastructure.
    * Peer-review changes from team members.
    * Take a security-first approach to systems and ensure any vulnerabilities reported are resolved within agreed SLAs and timeframes.
    * Server and network hardening.
    * Work within an ISO 27001 framework to secure and preserve vital production services.

    Required Skill & Experience

    * Knowledge of security standards, common attack vectors and mitigations.
    * Excellent knowledge of Linux (preferably RHEL) and Windows.
    * Experience securing large-scale infrastructure operating across multiple data centres.
    * Able to identify and improve the security posture of AWS-hosted services.
    * Comfortable interacting with and patching VMware v6.x environments.
    * Knowledge of ISO27001.
    * A thorough understanding of internet, networking and other infrastructure technologies.
    * Be incredibly motivated and be an ambassador for change.
    * Comfortable scripting using an appropriate language (e.g. Bash, Python, shell, etc)

    My client is a leading company focusing on domain name registry and internet infrastructure. They are looking for a DevOps Engineer to join their Internet Engineering & Operations team. Ideally you will have experience as a DevOps engineer or you are looking to take your current career into the DevOps space.

    About the position:

    You will work with software developers to release code and new applications whilst building CI pipelines and streamline the software delivery process. You will architect environments for automation and reliability and improve production and deployment capabilities. You will work closely with cross functional teams across the company on various projects to ensure operational excellence.

    You will have:

    * Experience with CI/CD tools
    * Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, GIT and Terraform
    * Kubernetes and Docker experience
    * Experience with AWS
