Role Description:

As the Director of SRE, you will be expected to comfortably work in an AWS environment while balancing hands-on SRE & leadership responsibilities equally (50% hands-on).

The ideal candidate is eager to advance their managerial experience without inhibiting their technical exposure to a broad range of modern technologies.

Although this is a directorial role, my client is open to candidates at the Senior, Lead, or Principal level who are well-versed in AWS and have leadership / SRE experience.

Summary:

One of my clients located in Midtown Manhattan is looking to bring on a Director of Software Engineering for a full-time role. This person would be responsible for doing deep dive code review, suggesting new code, and maintenance of APIs and CI/CD. This role is approximately 50-60% formal management, 20-30% hands on engineering and about 10% miscellaneous working with other upper level management on strategy.

Preferred Requirements:

- Although formal management experience is not required for this role, experience in a Senior or Lead Software Engineer position is required to be successful

- AWS Cloud experience and knowledge is required

- Strong Python experience needed to assist with code review and jump in when needed

- Needs to have a strong understanding of ETL and SQL data processes

- Must be strong on the front-end

- Strong development experience is needed

- Excellent communication is needed to be successful in this role

- Must reside in Greater NYC area and be able to go on site after the Pandemic to Midtown Manhattan
