The Role

The Cloud Operations DevOps teams ensure our Products and Services are constantly available for our customers to use to run their businesses. A Cloud Operations Engineer participates in bridging the technical gaps between Development and Operations by deploying, administering, improving infrastructure, and improving automation using cloud technologies.

This is a 24/7 operation that requires on call coverage from each team member when required. Using guidance from Security, Architecture and Automation subject matter experts, the Cloud Operations Engineer builds and runs infrastructure, operational processes, infrastructure as code, automation of manual processes & improves operational capabilities.

Skills/Nice to have:
* Communication able to articulate complex technical issues in simple terms when communicating with non-technical audience or stakeholders
* Operating Systems: Windows, Linux &/or MacOS.
* Scripting knowledge for task automation (PowerShell, Bash, Ruby, Python).
* Experience building and maintaining Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD processes
* Experience with applications deployed in either AWS or Azure

Preferred:

Used across the globe, their innovative software, leveraging artificial intelligence allows interpreters to combine their knowledge with the best possible software.



Responsibilities
* Help define the overall strategy and execute the technical delivery of the Geoteric build and test execution environments.
* Define and configure appropriate cloud capabilities to support our strategic technical objectives.
* Provide data security assurance and technical consultancy to maintain our data integrity.
* Monitor and optimise the build and test systems to maximise performance.
* Provide expertise on cloud costs and benefits as input to strategic planning.
* Maintain, debug and expand build capabilities on a day to day basis.
* Automate software build, test and deployment tasks.
* Liaise with external service providers to ensure any issues are resolved promptly.
* Define hardware and software budget, requirements, configuration and maintenance for the technical team.
* Define and automate system builds across multiple platforms.
* Maintain and enhance version control systems including cloud capabilities.
* Help developers optimise the build, test and release pipeline.



Experience needed in the following:

* Certification or equivalent commercial experience with one or more public cloud vendors, ideally AWS

* Experience in security across a broad IT spectrum, ideally to ISO27001

* Experience in dealing effectively with conflicting priorities and requirements.

* Track record of driving solutions that resulted in measurable productivity benefits.

* Experience in build/release/test pipelines and automation.

* Detailed understanding of source control systems such as Git or Mercurial.

* Strong knowledge of one or more scripting languages.

* Broad experience of hardware both server and desktop.

* Identify and implement improvements in quality or systems/processes.

* Enthusiasm for learning new technologies.

* Experience with Windows and Linux.

* Experience of working within an agile environment.

Job purpose

The Cloud Operations DevOps teams are Responsible and Accountable for the online Product portfolio. The teams ensure our Products and Services are constantly available for our customers to use to run their businesses. The Cloud Operations Team Lead is responsible for ensuring their products provide our customers with an outstanding customer experience by ensuring they remain available, secure and performant. The team lead is responsible for ensuring their Cloud Operations team deliver to agreed roadmaps and works with the Product teams ensuring roadmaps are defined and release management is in place. This role is required to lead a team of Cloud Operations Specialists and co-ordinate the teams activities, reporting to a Cloud Operations Manager/Director who is fully accountable for the Products.
