AWS Linux Infrastructure Engineer (Mid-level-Senior)

Location: London, Hybrid

Salary: £80,000

Contract Rate: £400/day outside IR35

We are seeking experienced AWS Linux professionals with a specialization in AWS and DevOps to join our team in London. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in shaping our DevOps function and contribute to exciting projects within the AWS ecosystem.

Responsibilities:

* Manage day-to-day operations of multi-cloud environments.
* Design and implement best practice solutions.
* Lead large AWS project implementations in Enterprise settings.
* Monitor infrastructure and applications using tools such as CloudWatch, Solarwinds, New Relic, etc.
* Drive cost optimization, security enhancement, and performance optimization.
* Transition IaaS solutions to serverless technology.
* Implement security best practices in AWS solutions.
* Optimize network traffic performance and ensure high availability while controlling costs.

Requirements:

* AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate or Professional.
* Proficiency in Linux, specifically RedHat.
* Experience with Terraform.
* Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining AWS solutions.
* Proven track record of ownership in large AWS project implementations.
* Familiarity with monitoring tools like CloudWatch, Solarwinds, New Relic, etc.

Role and Responsibilities

Answering to the Head of Engineering, we're seeking a seasoned DevOps engineer who's adept at both crafting and rolling out solutions.

* Architect, implement, and manage Public Cloud infrastructures, with a strategic shift towards AWS in the pipeline.
* Set and monitor service level metrics for applications.
* Mentor software teams to ensure seamless app deployment and operation.
* Hands-on troubleshooting and incident handling.
* Primarily UK business hours support, with occasional out-of-hours assistance.
* Identify and implement optimization strategies.
* Establish and refine deployment, incident, and problem management processes and tools.

Experience and Qualifications

Background and Qualifications:

* Ideally, a bachelor's degree in engineering or science; however, we're open to considering other degrees for the right fit.
* A minimum of 4 years in a Senior or Lead DevOps role.
* Proficiency with SaaS applications.

Skills and Experience:

* Agile software development practices.
* Solid grasp of IP Networking, DNS, CDN, Load Balancing, and firewall design.
* Proficiency with AWS, GCP, and Terraform.
* Architecting Kubernetes systems; familiarity with monitoring tools like Prometheus and Service Mesh like Istio.
* Comfortable in Linux environments.
* Experience with GitHub for source code management.
* CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
* Config and Secrets management.
* Scripting with Python, Shell, Perl.
* Security credentials: Familiarity with ISO27001 and SOC compliance is a plus.

Role Purpose

This newly created role is to support a rapidly growing and well-supported Technology function. The key deliverables for this role will be to support the AWS-based teams to have infrastructure as code at the heart of everything they do and to help teams new to the AWS world to architect out what infrastructure they would require to fulfill their brief.

This individual should have experience with CloudFormation, CICD, IaC, Kubernetes, and Hashicorp, and have a knack for streamlining CICD pipelines. The ideal candidate will have a mix of knowledge, a strong potential for growth, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

As an advisor to the technology group, this role requires hands-on experience with AWS building workloads, architecture, and solution designing. The engineer should have a solid understanding of multi-cloud environments and CDK, as well as experience with DevOps principles and Agile methodologies. Python proficiency is a must.

Requirements

* Excellent understanding of AWS and other cloud technologies (Azure/GCP).

* 5+ years of cloud infrastructure experience.

* Experience or knowledge of the well-architected framework, DevOps, agile development, and cloud design principles

* Familiarity with deployment automation technologies (Terraform, Cloudformation, CDK, CircleCI, etc).

* Strong appreciation of information security.

* Proven experience implementing secure design principles

An accredited AWS Partner is looking to expand it's engineering function having continued it's successful track record in winning new business. The company in question prides itself on it's technical capability but equally, it's customer centrictiy and consequently is looking for like-minded individuals to join them.

Being successful in this process would offer the platform to work on a number of medium / long term engagements, exposure to bleeding edge technology and the opportunity to work shoulder to shoulder with a team known for their collaborative and inclusive approach.

Offices are based in central London, a 5 minute walk from the nearest tube station, and whilst attendance is always welcomed, it is not expected - promoting an autonomous and high trust working pattern.

Initially the experience sought is best summarised;
