HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

Working within an international Cloud Operations team delivering enterprise SaaS products; you'll install, deploy and configure applications in both test and production environments. Your endless drive for success will see you investigate and resolve system and application incidents; monitor both technical and service capacities whilst continuously improving CI/CD deployments and production operations as well as undertaking regular reviews of current and new technologies that are appropriate to the business.


* You'll work as part of an effective self-organising, cross-functional and disciplined team to achieve repeatable success. You'll recognise that team success is more important than individual success;
* You'll work with team members to deliver the Vision and Mission whilst observing core Values;
* You'll contribute to building an environment where the continuous improvement of cloud operations is in focus and where everyone's common goal is to deliver outstanding service as fast as possible
* You'll actively identify areas of improvement and conceptualise methods on how to be more efficient
* Liaising with appropriate teams for the on-boarding of new clients will be key to the provision of a seamless customer experience
* You'll undertake daily monitoring of systems including management of backups, patches and security systems

Requirements:

ESSENTIAL

* AWS and Azure platforms, so deep knowledge of one is essential and the other desirable
* Complete Software Engineering lifecycle
* Build and deployment in a Linux/Windows environment using a continuous integration pipeline
* Exposure to databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQLServer etc
* Understanding of Configuration Management and change control.
* SQL, Shell Scripting, Tomcat, Apache


DESIRABLE

* Commercial product build, delivery and support
* Python, Terraform, WildFly
* Zabbix monitoring
* Jenkins knowledge
* Networking and security expertise
* Performance and monitoring skills
* Knowledge of Broadcasting environment and Conditional Access
* Knowledge of Software Architecture design
* Microsoft Windows Server and Infrastructures


EXPERIENCE:

* 2+ years of experience working with a SaaS provider deploying and operating complex cloud infrastructure at scale;
* Good understanding of operating systems and web services;
* Strong fault finding and analysis skills;
* Ideally a Bachelor's degree in a related field, or related work experience beyond the minimum required

Due to continued success and growth, my client are expanding and are now looking for a Lead DevOps Engineer to join our team. The role will be building the DevOps Continuous Improvement, Continuous Delivery platform and coding framework that underpins our core products.

They are looking for someone who is passionate about automation, creative and innovative, with a track record of fully automated cloud Infrastructure and CI/CD application pipelines. You must be able to demonstrate a mindset for Open Source technologies and have implemented continuous improvement / continuous delivery effectively. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with infrastructure automation as they'll with Application Continuous Delivery.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Handle Infrastructure as code, contributing to making our infrastructure fully automated, simple, reliable, and easy to operate
* Awareness of industry direction and trends in infrastructure as code tooling and best practices
* Develop and implement systems that aid and facilitate our rapid growth including the implementation of deployment policies, future procedures, configuration management and planning for capacity upgrades
* Design, operate and automate operational tasks, such as Networking configuration, Server provisioning, backup/restore, disaster recovery, monitoring and alerting
* Implement an on-going cloud cost optimisation process
* Implement security best practices

Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in computer science or other relevant discipline
* 5+ years' experience in DevOps/Software Configuration Management role
* Programming experience required, preferably Python or Java
* Excellent CI/CD experience with Jenkins/Bamboo/ CircleCI/ AWS Code pipeline
* Working knowledge Docker containers, Kubernetes, AWS ECS
* Excellent Linux experience, and experience in at least one of the following tools: Puppet, Chef or Ansible

Proven experience:

* Managing the cloud infrastructure as code, using Terraform.
* Maintaining highly available and performant environments.
* Monitoring tools, such as Sumologic, Datadog, Zabbix, Nagios, New Relic.
* Managing and deploying AWS Load Balancers, RDS, Route 53, CloudFront, S3.
* Managing and deploying Serverless applications: Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB
* Familiarity and experience with Agile/SCRUM based development methodology

The role

The Responsibilites

* Lead, and mentor Team Members towards DevOps pursuits.
* Provide DevOps Tools and CI/CD expertise to software development teams.
* Help build a reusable standard CI/CD pipeline model with cutting-edge tools and automation.
* Drive process automation focused on eliminating manual steps in application build and deployment.
* Work with program teams to understand their product development requirements, embracing DevOps principles, prescribed toolchain, and pipeline framework.

* Experience with building CI and deployment pipelines and hands-on knowledge of applicable tools chain such as Jenkins or similar
* Experience with infrastructure as code tools (e.g Terraform, Scalr, Ansible, Chef/Puppet).
* Experience in automation + one of scripting language such as Python.
* Experience with containers ( e.g Docker)
* knowledge of cloud architecture and experience with using a broad range of cloud technologies and their services EC2, RDS, ELB, EBD, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, CloudTrail or similar.
