Description du poste

TRG have partnered with a mission-driven EdTech start-up operating globally within the higher education sector. The business builds a scalable, cloud-based learning and assessment platform used by institutions and students worldwide.

This is an opportunity for an experienced Engineering Manager to step into a high-ownership, hands-on leadership role within a fast-growing product organisation.

The Role

This position sits at the intersection of people leadership, delivery execution, and technical quality.

You'll be responsible for leading a large, distributed engineering team while remaining deeply involved in how work is scoped, reviewed, delivered, and improved. This is not a passive management role - it suits someone who enjoys setting standards, enforcing process, and actively contributing to technical quality.

Key Responsibilities

*

Lead, coach, and performance-manage a large, distributed engineering team (10+ reports)
*

Own engineering delivery from clear scope through to production, including forecasting and rescoping
*

Actively participate in and lead code reviews, setting and enforcing high quality standards
*

Push back on unclear or technically unsound requirements and propose pragmatic alternatives
*

Build, document, and enforce repeatable engineering processes
*

Maintain clear project tracking and provide accurate updates to technical and non-technical stakeholders
*

Partner closely with product, design, and senior technical leadership to deliver scalable solutions

About You

You'll likely bring:

*

8+ years of prior hands-on experience as a software engineer or technical lead
*

Proven experience managing large engineering teams (10+ direct reports)
*

Strong technical depth with the confidence to review code and challenge decisions
*

A history of delivering complex projects in startup or high-growth environments
*

Experience building and enforcing engineering processes (not just participating in them)
*

Clear, confident communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

The Environment

*

Globally distributed engineering team
*

Flexible working arrangements
*

Strong product, design, and technical leadership support
*

High expectations paired with genuine autonomy and impact

Why This Role?

This is a high-impact Engineering Manager position with real ownership over team performance, delivery outcomes, and technical quality. You'll have the scope to shape how engineering operates while working on a product with genuine social impact.

If you're an Engineering Manager who enjoys leading from the front, values strong process and technical excellence, and thrives in busy environments, we'd love to hear from you.
