They have practices across Business Analytics, Data Management, Advanced and Predictive Analytics and Business Insights. They are currently looking for a skilled Matillion Data Engineer to join their Data practice based out of either their Milton Keynes or London office.

* Are ready to develop on a broad range of skills, but also willing to specialise in certain technical area's

Junior Data Engineer

£40,000 - £60,000 DOE

Remote with occasional (quarterly) travel

My client are one of the biggest names in technology and modern cloud consulting, they boast a world class data and analytics centre and are looking to add to their team. They provide a wide range of cutting edge data and analytics solutions to the Public Sector to revolutionise the UK Government's data platform and maximise insight, accesibility, revenues, reduce fraud etc - they key lifeblood of the Public Sector.

You will work in an Agile team collaborating closely with Architects, Product Managers and Solution Architects.

Experience Required:

* ETL skills ideally using PL/SQL, Talend, Pentaho, IICS, Powercenter other tools considered.
* Ideally a database background in Oracle, but other RDS experience considered.
* Programming skills in any of PL/SQL, SQL, Unix, Java, Python, Hive, HiveQL, HDFS, Impala
* Must be eligible for Security Clearance

The Role

* You will be working in an agile delivery team within an agile scrum framework.
* Work across various software engineering principles including requirements gathering, analysis, design, coding, development, testing, implementation and support.
* Contribute to various teams providing ideas and innovation/process recommendations, help mentor other team members, strong information sharing culture.

Jefferson Frank are supporting a client on the up! They have recently won 3 major projects with clients in the UK. The client describes this role as one that "you will never be bored in".

The role sits in the newly created Data Science & Tools team within this department, reporting to Head of Data Science & Tools. The team's remit is to drive innovation & revenue in two ways: develop & deliver revenue-driving/client-facing data science & engineering solutions and internal tools used within the agency.

As a senior member of the team you will be mentoring 2-3 junior members on projects and leading by example by being the main point of contact for architecture, design and engineering.



Role responsibilities:

* Ownership of the data engineering projects and solutions delivered by the Data Science and Tools team
* Line management of Data Engineers (2-3 including contractors)
* Champion data and software engineering best practices and helping and mentoring the team to implement and uphold those practices
* Solutionising client deliverables
* Define and maintain DataOps and governance policies, processes, and standards, including automation of tasks
* Hands-on involvement in data integrations, warehousing, and related engineering tasks
* Oversee the deliveries across multiple clients and assuring that the solutions meet the highest quality achievable within the project constraints
* Research and Development on the possible technologies and help the team and clients adopt those where appropriate
* Highlight risks and produce effective mitigation plans to address them
* Be a key owner of the Cloud GCP infrastructure making sure that appropriate governance practices are followed, whilst helping the company with cloud adoption
* Data infrastructure automation
* Contribute to new business and cross-sell proposals, especially with detail about the implementation work in proposed projects, and with estimations of the time and effort needed, which will contribute to the commercial element of a proposal



Essential:

* Excellent Python and SQL and database design skills
* Proficient with cloud-based modern data warehousing technologies
* Fluent with GCP and related technologies, especially BigQuery
* Strong understanding of the best practices, the trends in data and software engineering
* Hands-on experience with setting up and maintaining production data pipelines using serverless technologies and/or Airflow
* Strong dbt/Dataform or similar SQL development frameworks
* Strong understanding and appreciation of unit testing, producing clean/maintainable code
* An ability to communicate clearly and effectively on technical topics with varied types of technical and non-technical stakeholders
* Productionising software applications, experience with Docker
* Experience working with software engineers, agile development, and software development lifecycles
* Infrastructure automation, preferably with Terraform
* Experience setting up CI/CD pipelines
