Algorithms Team Lead

The Opportunity

A high-growth Australian technology organisation operating in a safety-focused domain is seeking an Algorithms Team Lead to drive the development of advanced detection and decision-support capabilities.

This role blends hands-on technical leadership with people management, leading a multidisciplinary team working across data-driven algorithms, signal processing and software engineering. The solutions developed in this team are deployed globally and operate in complex, real-world environments.



Key Responsibilities

* Lead and develop a team of engineers across multiple technical disciplines
* Define technical direction and execution plans for advanced algorithmic solutions
* Own delivery of projects from research through to production deployment
* Establish strong engineering and development best practices
* Ensure solutions are robust, scalable and production-ready
* Translate business and operational objectives into technical outcomes
* Work cross-functionally to resolve delivery, prioritisation and resourcing challenges
* Mentor engineers and support the ongoing growth of team capability



Skills & Experience

* Experience leading technical teams in a delivery-focused environment
* Hands-on experience working with machine learning or advanced algorithmic techniques, applied to real-world problems
* Strong programming capability using Python, alongside experience with one or more performance-oriented languages used in production systems
* Experience contributing to or leading work involving signal analysis, pattern recognition, or mathematically intensive processing pipelines
* Strong experience building and deploying data-driven or algorithmic systems
* Experience working in high-reliability, safety-critical or regulated domains is advantageous
* Highly advantageous to have experience with digital signal processing, spectral analysis or time-series data interpretation
