Senior Backend Engineer
We're seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to help develop and scale a digital learning product used by both consumers and schools. The role includes hands on backend development, collaboration with a local Tech Lead, and coordination with Product, Design, and a remote platform team.

* Operates from London and Copenhagen with multidisciplinary creative and technical teams

The role:
* Develop and maintain backend services for both consumer and school focused products
* Work closely with the Tech Lead and development team on architecture and implementation
* Contribute to a scalable backend aligned with product and platform strategies
* Support product discovery and early prototyping work
* Collaborate with Product, UI and UX, and Design teams
* Coordinate shared development tasks with the platform team
Key responsibilities:
* Take ownership of the backend codebase with high quality, tested, maintainable code
* Translate product requirements, wireframes, and user stories into technical solutions
* Deliver features on schedule with attention to reliability and performance
* Participate in architectural discussions with the Tech Lead and platform team
* Contribute to documentation, communication, and smooth cross team handoffs
* Take part in code reviews and continuous integration practices
* Promote clean code, refactoring, and engineering standards
* Stay current with relevant technologies and share insights with the team
* Mentor junior developers and support a culture of learning
About you:
* 5+ years of backend development experience
* Experience working in cross functional product teams
* Strong knowledge of Typescript and Node.js
* Experience with AWS services
* Able to work independently while aligning with broader product and architectural goals
* Comfortable working with complexity and ambiguity in early product phases
* Experience with educational or gaming products is a plus
