    This role enables you to create and support software products on my clients platform. You'll be back end focused working on services that interact with customer data, while maintain the API which supports both internal and external applications. The role offers you both opportunity for team and independent work, you'll be working closely with a team of other developers as well as having the experience to confidently identify and solve problems effectively on your own.



    Requirements:

    * 2 years' experience in building software products (Independently and in teams)
    * Strong Python and experience of creating RESTful API's
    * Building services in AWS cloud
    * Experience with no-SQL Databases (MongoDB)
    * Data analytics experience is highly desirable

    Server Lead Programmer - UK wide

    Salary up to £70k DOE

    1 day per month in London office

    An independent games studio, who are the makers of an award-winning open world game and also operate a community led developer network, are expanding further after heavy investment!

    What You'll be doing

    You'll join their highly talented code team and will be responsible for developing and enhancing online-backend systems for games.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    * Developing reliable and high performance online services for our games
    * Making key decisions on server side architecture
    * Building and managing a small server side team of programmers
    * Planning and organising tasks, to deliver features to a schedule
    * Providing advice to the rest of the team on server side issues
    * Working with the other Leads to coordinate tasks and technical implementation, based on the current roadmap. This will include working with other disciplines such as Design and QA
    * As a senior team member you'll help mentor junior team members and plan their skills development
    * Creating and maintaining technical documentation as required

    Required Experience and Skills

    * Professional Game Programming Experience (at least 3 years) including 1 or more shipped games
    * Proven ability to organise and coordinate a small team of programmers
    * Working knowledge of C++, NodeJS, SQL/NoSQL, Docker and orchestration software such as Marathon or Kubenetes
    * Experience with designing around databases, replication, reliable/unreliable protocols, security, high throughput requirements and stateless vs stateful server design
    * Knowledge of the client-server model, Game API design, load balancing, analytics and 3rd party integrations
    * Conceptual grasp of user generated content, persistent environments, large simulated worlds

    JOB SUMMARY

    * Researching relevant literature, communities and forums to gain insight to assist in ensuring the architecture remains fit for purpose.
    * Understand and proactively plan infrastructure, XaaS and service monitoring against agreed requirements.

    KEY REQUIREMENTS

    * Operating as a technical solution design authority with experience working in Infrastructure, software and application monitoring roles with an advanced understanding across a broad spectrum of mission critical infrastructure technologies.
    * Infrastructure related technology innovation and emerging technology awareness with an good external, market knowledge of target applications, environments, systems software, packages, platforms etc.
    * Pro-active self-learner capable of understanding new technologies quickly with facilitation, influencing and negotiation skills to be able to share and communicate that knowledge.
    * Significant hands-on knowledge of Red Hat Linux and the Red Hat ecosystem (Certification desired).
    * Significant hands-on knowledge of public cloud providers (Certification desired).
    * Demonstrable knowledge of:

    * VMware
    * Windows
    * Big Data Technologies and Data migration
    * Server and SAN hardware (HP)
    * Networking hardware (Juniper, F5, HP, Cisco)
    * Oracle, SQL, Cassandra database
    * Agile and DevOps tools such as Jira, Slack, Puppet or Chef, Docker, Ansible and Terraform
