AI Director - Financial Services - London - £140k

Our client is a leading financial services organisation undergoing a major digital and data transformation. With significant investment in AI and machine learning, they are now looking for an AI Director to define and lead their enterprise‑wide AI strategy - placing Google AI technologies at the heart of their operating model.
This is a high‑visibility, high‑impact leadership role where you will shape the future of AI within a complex, data‑rich environment.
As AI Director, you will be responsible for building, scaling, and governing AI capabilities across the business. You will partner with senior stakeholders, technology teams, and data leaders to accelerate adoption of Google AI technologies while ensuring compliance, robustness, and measurable business value.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and own the organisation's AI strategy, with a specific focus on Google AI/Vertex AI capabilities.
* Lead the design, deployment, and optimisation of machine learning and generative AI solutions across multiple business units.
* Build and manage a high‑performing team of AI engineers, data scientists, and ML operations specialists.
* Establish governance frameworks to ensure ethical, secure, and compliant AI usage.
* Drive commercial value through automation, intelligent decisioning, predictive analytics, and GenAI‑powered workflows.
* Collaborate with C‑suite leaders to embed AI into the broader digital transformation roadmap.
* Stay ahead of industry trends, best practices, and emerging Google AI tools.
Required Experience:
You'll be an influential leader with a proven track record delivering AI at scale in regulated environments, with skills across the following areas:
* Deep expertise in Google Cloud AI stack (Vertex AI, BigQuery ML, Generative AI tools).
* Experience leading AI, ML, or data science functions within financial services or similarly regulated industries.
* Strong understanding of cloud architecture, MLOps, and enterprise‑grade AI deployment.
* Proven ability to translate complex AI concepts into commercial outcomes.
* Ability to influence at senior/executive level and drive cultural adoption of AI.
* Passionate about ethical AI, governance, and responsible innovation.
The package on offer:
