AWS Architect


Salary: Up to £70k depending on experience

This major UK Consultancy are looking for talented AWS Architects to join their team. They work with clients across various sectors such as Education, financial services, local government, retail and healthcare; with a large number of FTSE 100 and 250 clients. They can therefore provide a lot of opportunity for career development both in terms of breadth as well as depth.

The Role

Playing a key role in their delivery team, you are a talented and ambitious AWS Architect with the ability to architect, design, and develop AWS cloud solutions for their clients.

This job requires some travel to client sites and other company offices and involves engagement with clients and potential clients at all points in the client life cycle.

Key Responsibilities

* Represent their company at pre-sales meetings and understand client requirements
* Perform expert-level advice and needs analysis with their clients.
* Undertake AWS Well Architected reviews
* Lead both high-level and low-level designs, fully document the solution and gain the approval of the customer
* Develop technical roadmaps for future AWS cloud implementations and the client journey
* Develop business case analysis on potential projects
* Ensure security is integrated into all cloud architecture solutions
* Perform advanced systems modelling, simulation, and analysis
* Acts as a subject-matter expert to multiple tasks and/or programs
* Perform expert-level systems AWS development and design work that may include logic design, I/O design, cloud architecture analysis and design, and systems engineering
* Develop technical roadmaps for the client's journey
* Develop business case analysis on potential projects
* Ensure security is integrated into everything they do
* Audit and recommend upgrades to solutions based on current and future requirements

Knowledge and Experience

The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience across the following:


* Strong understanding of core Amazon infrastructure
* A good understanding of the AWS Well Architected Framework
* Knowledge of End User Compute (EUC) technologies, e.g. Amazon WorkSpaces, Citrix, RDS
* Knowledge of microservice based architectures
* Experience working in a DevOps environment
* Windows Server (2012 R2 and later)
* Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP design and implementation
* Ability to present confidently in external group and client settings
* AWS Solution Architect Professional certification


* Familiarity with Linux server & Identity Management technologies
* Working with AWS in a serverless context
* Using development tools such as JIRA, GIT, Jenkins, Maven and SonarQube
* Familiarity with software tools which automate or assist part of the development build process
* Proven implementation experience using Java and Node.js
* Containerisation experience such as Docker, Kubernetes and ECS
* Experience in Chef or Ansible.
