Infrastructure Engineer | Contract | ASAP

Jefferson Frank are currently supporting a key client of ours who are seeking the expertise of an experienced Infrastructure Engineer.

Position Description

Base location: Edinburgh Full time in the Edinburgh council area; lots of schools need to be visited.
Salary (Day rate): £550+
Notice Period: 7 days
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: 6 months
Clearance: BPSS to start

Working knowledge of enterprise wireless systems, including:
- 802.1X
- Centralised vs local break out
Good understanding of deploying and troubleshooting network services, including:

* Project Engineer role is to visit client sites, CGI sites, and 3rd party Data Centres, to perform work as directed by Technical Architects and Consultants.
* To ensure that all necessary support documentation is amended to reflect any implementation made and ensure handover and knowledge transfer to onshore and offshore support teams.
* Must be able to work on own initiative.
* Will need to work remotely, home based or customers sites.
* Good communication skills, both verbal and written

Key Activities
The role of the Project Engineer is to:

-Provision/decommission of hardware into the Datacentre complying to DCM processes.
-Cabling of servers following documented Low Level Designs and best practices.
-Install / Patching /Firmware upgrades following documented Low Level Designs and best practices.
-Provide Project On Call and perform Out of hours change work.
-Provide documentation and information for Acceptance into Service to the BAU teams
-Liaise with 3rd parties where necessary to complete own tasks
-Maintain CGI security and documentation standards (ISO90001 AND ISO27001).
-Communicate to senior team technical issues and risks.
