Lead Cloud Operations Engineer - Edinburgh - Up to £80k DOE

Edinburgh (2 days per month in office post covid)

Job Description

My clients award-winning Subscriber Intelligence Platform combines their team's extensive domain knowledge and practical experience with artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques that turn subscriber data into something so tangible that it will transform the way subscription businesses engage with subscribers.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

You'll play a key role in the wider technology department, leading an international Cloud Operations team delivering enterprise SaaS products, developing a culture of operational excellence using industry best practices for change management, release management, incident management, and risk mitigation. You'll establish organisational metrics to measure and manage performance whilst partnering with platform engineering and product development teams to build end-to-end solutions that are resilient and scalable.

* You'll be the senior point of contact for the escalation of any technical issues and will hold responsibility for ensuring that the appropriate resources are in place to resolve issues outstanding from first-line support
* Working as part of an effective self-organising, cross-functional and disciplined team you'll achieve repeatable success whilst recognising that team success is more important than individual success

* Your strong motivational and leadership skills will see you work with team members to deliver the Vision and Mission whilst observing core Values
* You'll contribute to building an environment where continuous improvement of cloud operations is in focus and where everyone's common goal is to deliver outstanding service as fast as possible
* You'll actively try to identify areas of improvement and conceptualise methods on how to be more efficient
* Cost management of all cloud services will play a significant role in the decisions you make, identifying areas to reduce cloud costs for each client and the business
* You'll liaise with appropriate teams for the on-boarding of new clients alongside the daily monitoring of systems including management of backups, patches and security systems

Requirements:

ESSENTIAL

* AWS and Azure platforms, so deep knowledge of one is essential and the other desirable
* Complete Software Engineering lifecycle
* Build and deployment in a Linux/Windows environment using a continuous integration pipeline
* Exposure to databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQLServer etc
* Understanding of Configuration Management and change control.
* SQL, Shell Scripting, Tomcat, Apache

DESIRABLE

* Commercial product build, delivery and support
* Python, Terraform, WildFly
* Zabbix monitoring
* Jenkins knowledge
* Networking and security expertise
* Performance and monitoring skills
* Knowledge of Broadcasting environment and Conditional Access
* Knowledge of Software Architecture design
* Microsoft Windows Server and Infrastructures
