Senior SRE/Tech lead/DevOps Engineer

- 18 month contract

- Travel to Manchester or Newcastle 1 day a week

- £450 - £700 Inside IR35

- 2 stage interview



What you'll do:

* Own initiatives aimed at improving processes and systems related to OS and cloud instance validation, performance optimization, core network/VPC design etc
* Design, scale, and secure infrastructure to stay ahead of business needs through fault-tolerant architecture design, performance testing, profiling, and tuning, and capacity planning
* Ensure our products remain available, performant, secure, observable, and cost-effective
* Work closely with product delivery teams, influencing their approach and design
* Drive innovation and automation

* Promote SRE good practices to help us grow in a sustainable way

* Understand Cloud Operations from a customer and commercial perspective building relationships with key stakeholders
* Ensure all components are highly scalable and maintainable
* Use your product development experience to build and take ownership of services, tools, and components to support the function and teams
* Partner with other engineers to troubleshoot problems with our technology, and provide an excellent customer experience
* Provide mentorship on best practices for development, backend operations and integration
* Champion and promote the SRE function as a centre of excellence

You'll need:

* Expertise in working on both sides of DevOps - write, test, review code and then deliver that code to production. Be able to monitor, support, and maintain it
* Proficiency with one or more development languages including C#, TypeScript/JavaScript, Java, Go, Python
* Knowledge and experience of scripting languages such as Bash, PowerShell
* Significant experience with public cloud platforms - AWS and/or Azure
* Infrastructure as Code experience with tooling such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation/CDK and/or Azure ARM/Bicep
* Experience with building and maintaining CI/CD capability - Azure DevOps, GitHub, pipeline-as-code
* Aptitude in using observability tools at scale - Datadog, New Relic, Cloudwatch, Application Insights, DynaTrace, Grafana etc
* Experience with RDBMS and NoSQL database systems
* Experience with containers and container orchestration technologies - Docker, AWS ECS/Fargate, AKS, Kubernetes
* Competence with Serverless technologies - AWS Lambda/Azure Functions
* Experience and knowledge in networking (TCP/IP, routing, firewalls, network security, DNS)
* A robust understanding of large-scale systems architecture
* A good understanding of SRE principles and practice
