Wordpress Developer

I am seeking a WordPress Developer responsible for both back-end and front-end

development, including creating WordPress themes and plugins. This position requires a

combination of programming skills (namely PHP, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript)

The position is to lead a Wordpress development team, working with their UX/UI

team and having direct contact with clients and their project manager.

The role will involve direct client contact, from first meeting, scoping and ongoing

development to project completion. Being able to communicate verbally, as well as via

email and other methods (such as Slack) is an essential part of the role and as such, the

candidate should be both excellent in verbal and written English.

The candidate should have a strong understanding of industry trends and content

management systems. Experience with the responsive and adaptive design is strongly

preferred. Also, an understanding of the entire web development process, including design,

development, and deployment is preferred.

The role will also involve some project management, from liaising directly with the client to

internal workings with the UX team and Project Manager. We will also expect the candidate to work with front end developers from the outset, to ensure the UX/UI meets the requirements of the build specification.

Skills and Qualifications

Strong knowledge of the WordPress platform

Utilise your deep understanding of the WP library and other common practices to produce

great WP-based products

Develop custom WP plugins, modules, and themes

Ensure your new custom creations work properly in all environments while overcoming

conflicts with popular themes and plugins

Good understanding of front-end technologies, including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery

Experience building user interfaces for websites and/or web applications

Experience designing and developing responsive design websites

Comfortable working with debugging tools like Firebug, Chrome inspector, etc.

Ability to understand CSS changes and their ramifications to ensure consistent style across

platforms and browsers

Ability to convert comprehensive layout and wireframes into working HTML pages

Knowledge of how to interact with RESTful APIs and formats (JSON, XML)

Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Git

Strong understanding of PHP back-end development

Some exposure to Craft CMS (not essential but desirable) or a desire to learn

Job Requirements

Working with the UX and UI teams to plan and scope projects

Taking part in Sprints

Direct contact with clients to help them to understand scope and limitations of project

Developing and Implementing new features and functionality

Helping formulate an effective, responsive design and turning it into a working theme and


Establishing and guiding the website's architecture

Ensuring high-performance and availability, and managing all technical aspects of the

Wordpress build
