    Job description

    Our Client is seeking an experienced automation specialist with excellent communication skills, strong technical testing skills and the ability to plan and execute testing using a context-driven approach, who will take ownership of automation testing.

    What you will do:



    * Covering both functional and non-functional testing, help to develop and maintain a test automation suite
    * Promote CI/CD practice by helping create an automation framework
    * Support the DevOps team and their test strategy.
    * Use automation tools to help build a solid CI/CD cycle and assure high test coverage
    * Create regression tests to ensure new features work without disrupting existing work
    * Test the integration of components to ensure the different parts of our applications interact correctly

    What you already have:

    * 3+ years of commercial hands-on automation experience
    * Experience in testing web services and APIs.
    * Knowledge of tools such as Postman would be an advantage.
    * Proficiency with Selenium Webdriver or other automation tools such as Katalon Studio
    * At a minimum, basic knowledge of SQL
    * ISTQB Certification is an advantage but not pre-requisite
    * A self-starter who's not afraid to ask a lot of questions
    * Strong command in English (written and verbal)
    * Have worked directly for a product company.

    Requirements

    The essentials?

    * Experiece building data platforms using either cloud native products or commercial data analytics / data warehouse software
    * Working knowledge of data pipelines & data transformation processes
    * Experience creating and/or maintaining production software delivery pipelines using common CI/CD tools (e.g. Jenkins,GoCD,CircleCI)

    * Demonstrable experience in automating operations tasks with one or more scripting languages
    * Experience working with one or more of the main cloud providers (AWS, Azure or Google)
    * Have a drive for self-improvement and learning, including learning new programming languages
    * Approach solving problems pragmatically
    * Experience of Hadoop big data platforms (either Cloudera / Hortonworks or cloud native equivalents)
    * Experience with data reporting and visualisation tools (PowerBI, Tableau, Qlik)
    * Experience productionising machine learning algorithms
    * Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform, Cloudformation)
    * Experience supporting and operating production systems
    * Familiarity with configuration management tooling (e.g. Ansible)

    Lead Data Engineer - Edinburgh

    Salary Up to £60k

    Lead Data Engineers across Data Platforms (Data Lake, ODS and Data Warehouse) to join Data, Analytics & Platforms function. The new function has been created by consolidating teams across the business as well as building teams to support new cloud platforms and activities transferring from their existing IT provider.

    Accountabilities:

    * Design, build and test data solutions across Data Platforms (i.e. Data Lake, ODS and Data Warehouse) whilst following best practice to leverage platform processing power, creating reusable code and aligning to development standards
    * Analysis and investigation of environment and source data to support incident and change management activities
    * Drive continuous improvement to the data platforms through enhancement of new and existing data solutions, ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting of incidents and defects
    * Develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders across business teams whilst working across the full software delivery life cycle (i.e. analysis, design, build, test and implementation)



    Skills / Experience:

    * This role requires strong business and data analysis skills to support data solution and design activity.
    * Experience working with business stakeholders to understand business requirements and to translate these into a logical solution design.
    * Experience querying source data using SQL to identify source data items and to document transformation logic required to apply business rules
    * Strong background in database design and development, following best practice to leverage database processing power, create reusable code and align to data model build standards. Proven experience in data integration development that adheres to principles set out for scalability, logging, scheduling, alerts, re-runability and dependency management.
    * Experience of delivering solutions that align with Data Governance principles for Data Lineage, Data Quality and Data Security.
