    My client, a reputable consultancy, are looking for passionate and energetic Platform Engineers to work in Cloud Infrastructure Services as part of an agile team to help clients build and continuously improve digital services in the UK area.



    The Role

    As a leader in Cloud technology, you will drive strategy and innovation to support and improve Business capabilities, processes and applications in the Cloud for high-profile international clients. You will define and maintain technical designs according to cloud best practices and ensure they are deployed correctly in the Cloud environment by your team of engineers. You will also be a champion for agile delivery automation providing consistent Cloud deployment. As a Platform Engineer you will be expected to have knowledge, confidence and capability to assist our clients in realising their public cloud strategy.



    Requirements:

    * Experience with AWS, Azure or Google Compute services
    * Experience in either Red Hat Ansible or Hashicorp Terraform
    * Experience of using container and orchestration services such as Docker and Kubernetes
    * Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk and integration's with Slack and Teams

    My client is a leading consultancy looking for a Platform/DevOps engineer to undertake cross-functional engineering projects using the best technology to build supportable, sustainable and reliable services for clients.

    My client would like someone who has a broad range of experience in modern open source stacks but don't worry if you don't have strong experience in every skill listed below. If you can demonstrate a good selection of these skills and a willingness to learn, then they would like to talk to you.



    Ideally you will have:

    * Experience debugging complex, multi-server service in a high availability production environment
    * Very good knowledge of GNU/Linux.
    * Experience of building infrastructure in AWS using Terraform
    * Knowledge and experience of setting up and using configuration management tooling.
    * Strong understanding of CI/CD environments

    Our client, a charity organisation, is on the lookout for a Software/Infrastructure Engineer to help maintain, operate and develop the data analytics infrastructure as part of an exciting joint venture!

    This is a truly collaborative environment with industry and academic scientists working side-by-side in a jointly-run facility. This would involve working in a centre of excellence in genetic screening, modelling and data processing aimed at accelerating the discovery of new medicines.

    Role & Responsibilities include:

    * Act as technical lead for the FGC analytics pipeline infrastructure.
    * Contribute to strategic improvements, e.g. pipeline infrastructure, shared environment/data sharing, electronic lab notebook integration.
    * Maintenance; disaster recovery plans, routine upgrades, logging, monitoring and alerting, troubleshooting and incident handling.
    * Make iterative improvements, focusing on automation and low-maintenance modular design.
    * Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with partner organisations.
    * Build and share expertise, particularly in infrastructure and AWS cloud services.
    * Participate in technical support.

    Key Technical Skills

    * Modern software development practices, e.g. CI/CD, testing.
    * Modern software engineering tools, including Git, GitHub, Docker and JIRA or similar.
    * Familiarity with a range of AWS services, including CloudFormation.
    * Experience of an agile software development environment, eg XP or Scrum.

    The computing infrastructure is hosted in AWS, and uses a wide range of services including CloudFormation, S3, ECS/ECR, Batch, CloudWatch, SQS, and Lambdas. We use Python as a "glue" language for deployments, data wrangling etc, and Docker with ECR/ECS for pipeline execution.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    * Handle Infrastructure as code, contributing to making our infrastructure fully automated, simple, reliable, and easy to operate
    * Awareness of industry direction and trends in infrastructure as code tooling and best practices
    * Develop and implement systems that aid and facilitate our rapid growth including the implementation of deployment policies, future procedures, configuration management and planning for capacity upgrades
    * Design, operate and automate operational tasks, such as Networking configuration, Server provisioning, backup/restore, disaster recovery, monitoring and alerting
    * Implement an on-going cloud cost optimisation process and implement security best practices
    * Working with your agile team colleagues, your technical leaders/ Product Owners/ Scrum Master to build quality solutions that are capable of long term testability and growth whilst delivering focused, value driven changes to a high-quality standard

    Proven experience:

    * 3+ years' experience in DevOps/Software Configuration Management role
    * Managing the cloud infrastructure as code, using either CloudFormation or Terraform.
    * Maintaining highly available and performant environments.
    * Excellent Linux experience, and experience in at least one of the following tools: Puppet, Chef or Ansible
    * Managing and deploying AWS Load Balancers, RDS, Route 53, CloudFront, S3.
    * Managing and deploying Serverless applications: Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB
    * Working knowledge Docker containers, Kubernetes, AWS ECS
    * Networking, network security and have a deep knowledge of TCP/IP
    * Excellent automated builds and deployments experience.
